How we handle your information
This policy explains what information Nepali Awaz collects when you read news, create an account or contact us, and how we use it.
Last updated: 29 October 2026
1Information we collect
Account details: when you register, we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password. If you choose "Continue with Google", we receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google — never your Google password.
Location preference: the ward you choose so we can show local news first. We do not track your precise location in the background.
Content you send us: comments you post on articles and messages sent through the feedback form.
Usage data: basic information such as pages viewed and clicks on advertisements, used in aggregate to measure readership and ad performance.
2Cookies
We use cookies that are needed for the site to work: secure login cookies that keep you signed in (they cannot be read by scripts on the page), and cookies that remember your ward, theme and time-format settings. We do not use cookies to sell your data.
3How we use your information
To run your account, show news relevant to your area, publish your comments, respond to your feedback, keep the site secure and improve our service. We do not sell your personal information.
4Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (such as hosting and Google sign-in), or when required by the laws of Nepal. Comments you post and your display name are public.
5Your choices
You can update your name and ward from your account settings, log out at any time, or ask us to delete your account by writing to [email protected].
6Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version. Questions? Email [email protected].
